Joe Burrow likely would have been the NFL MVP if the Bengals made the playoffs.
Burrow led the NFL with 4,918 passing yards and 43 touchdowns.
He single-handedly kept the Bengals in the playoff mix despite a handful of tough one-score losses early in the season.
Burrow rallied the Bengals to stay alive until Week 18, but they came up one game short of the No. 7 seed earned by the Denver Broncos.
Cincinnati finished the regular season with five straight victories, but a 2-4 start put it in a hole early.
Burrow’s lack of a postseason appearance will hurt his MVP campaign and it will likely leave him third on most ballots.
