New York Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers made headlines following the team’s 28-3 loss to the division rival Philadelphia Eagles, seemingly criticizing quarterback Daniel Jones for not throwing to him enough.

“Watch the target tape. I was open,” Nabers told reporters after the game Sunday. He caught only four balls on eight targets for 41 yards.

Jones, however, shrugged off his top producer’s comments on Friday, spinning it into a positive for the team.

“I think it’s good that a receiver thinks he’s open, for sure,” Jones said. “I think you want a receiver to think he’s open.”

Later Friday, Nabers was asked about his earlier heated assessment, but he preferred to move on to Monday’s Week 8 contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“That’s something I said last week and last game. It’s a new week. I don’t want to talk about it,” he told reporters.

Nabers was quick to heap praise on Jones, adding that he’s the “same leader, same energetic guy.”
