The 2026 NFL scouting combine continued on Friday, as prospects looked to boost their draft stock at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
Defensive backs and tight ends were in action during the second day of on-field workouts, with several players making a strong impression.
This includes Indiana cornerback D’Angelo Ponds, as his 43.5-inch vertical jump was the best among all defensive backs.
Ponds was listed as the No. 4 cornerback and the No. 29 overall player in the 2026 draft class on the latest big board from Bleacher Report’s NFL Scouting Department.
Ohio State safety Lorenzo Styles Jr. also stood out among Friday’s participants, posting a 4.27-second 40-yard dash to lead the combine. It represented the fastest time by a safety since 2003.
His impressive time came one day after his brother, Buckeyes linebacker Sonny Styles, clocked a 4.46-second time on the 40-yard dash.
Lorenzo also recorded a 39-inch vertical. His blazing speed could cause him to climb up draft boards, as he wasn’t listed on the most recent big board from B/R’s NFL Scouting Department.
Vanderbilt tight end Eli Stowers raised his draft stock on Friday as well.
Stowers posted an impressive 45.5-inch vertical, the second-best at the combine since 2003.
He also put together an 11’3″ broad jump, setting a new combine record for tight ends, while running a 4.51-second 40-yard dash.
Oregon’s Dillon Thieneman was ranked as the No. 3 safety on Bleacher Report’s big board and he showed why on Friday.
Thieneman compiled a 4.35-second 40-yard dash, a 41-inch vertical and a 10’5″ broad jump.
Thieneman’s Oregon teammate, Ducks tight end Kenyon Sadiq, also thrived while testing.
Sadiq led all tight ends with a 4.40-second 40-yard dash, which tied for the combine record at his position. He recorded a 43.5-inch vertical as well as an 11’1″ broad jump.
Sadiq was listed as the No. 1 tight end and No. 16 overall prospect on Bleacher Report’s big board.
