Travis Etienne Jr. used a portion of his introductory press conference with the New Orleans Saints to clarify how his last name is pronounced.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Etienne explained that his last name is pronounced the same way as Miami Dolphins running back De’Von Achane.

Etienne said that he began saying his name more phonetically early in his college career at Clemson after his coaches “couldn’t get it” right the correct way.

After spending five seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Etienne signed a four-year, $52 million contract this week to join the Saints.

The deal represents a homecoming of sorts Etienne, who was born and raised in Jennings, Louisiana. New Orleans is roughly 165 miles from his childhood home.
