Don’t expect Team USA star Alysa Liu to swap an ice rink for a ballroom dance floor anytime soon.

The two-time Olympic gold medal winner was asked by Entertainment Tonight whether she’d consider competing on Dancing with the Stars. She shook her head no and said nobody from the show has reached out to her yet.

A number of athletes have competed in the long-running series. Rugby star Ilona Maher was the runner-up for the 33rd season. Within the figure skating realm, Kristi Yamaguchi Evan Lysacek, Mirai Nagasu and Adam Rippon are among the notable Dancing with the Stars alumni, and Rippon was the champion in his season.

This would be the time for Liu to strike while the iron is hot. A month removed from the 2026 Winter Olympics, her mainstream popularity might never be higher than it is right now

But Liu’s success is owed in part to the almost aloof way she approached her craft. The 20-year-old didn’t apply too much pressure to herself, and she wasn’t going to be overawed by the idea of competing in the Winter Games.

It stands to reason she’s not all that enamored with all the trappings of fame, either.
