A recent report indicated that a big reason Maxx Crosby is willing to stay with the Las Vegas Raiders after the Baltimore Ravens scrapped their agreement to trade for his services is that he has positive working relationships with Raiders general manager John Spytek and recently hired head coach Klint Kubiak.

For a video shared on the Raiders’ YouTube channel, Spytek touched upon that very topic.

Maxx Crosby, Raiders situation has worked out how it was supposed to?

“My relationship with Maxx, since I’ve gotten here, has been great,” Spytek explained, per Bob Harkins of The Athletic. “We had a lot of conversations throughout the season, at the end of the season, obviously, through the offseason, and obviously, we were presented with a challenging and difficult decision to make. Things have a way of going a certain way and working out the way that they’re supposed to.”

Crosby reportedly requested a trade after he was shut down by the Raiders against his wishes due to a knee injury before the 2025 season came to an end. That issue left him needing meniscus surgery, and alleged concerns about a “degenerative issue” in Crosby’s knee reportedly led to the Ravens voiding their agreement to send the Raiders a pair of first-round draft picks for the 28-year-old.

The Dallas Cowboys and other teams in need of help at Crosby’s position may explore trading for him later this year, but the Raiders reportedly are not shopping him or “trying to make” a deal happen. It certainly sounds like Crosby will now remain with the Raiders through at least the start of the 2026 season.

What’s next for Maxx Crosby, Raiders after failed trade with Ravens?

“We welcome him like he never left,” Spytek added about Crosby, “because he really never did. It’s exciting to see him work hard and attack the rehab like we know, and I know he’s going to be back, ready to rock in August and have a bunch of good years ahead of him still.”

Teams once interested in Crosby may now try to acquire Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns after the Browns recently made it easier to offload his contract. Regardless, neither Crosby nor Spytek seems all that eager to end a marriage that appeared to be on shaky ground not all that long ago.
