Tatum Paxley defeated Blake Monroe at NXT Stand & Deliver on Saturday to retain the Women’s North American Championship.
Paxley and Monroe began their rivalry on the March 17 episode of NXT after Paxley beat Izzi Dame in a steel cage match to retain the women’s North American title, just 10 days after winning it in the first place.
While Paxley was celebrating on the ramp, Monroe emerged from a trap door, pulling Paxley in and stealing her title belt.
Monroe previously held the Women’s North American Championship for 52 days, shockingly dropping it to Thea Hail on the Dec. 16 edition of NXT in a result that seemingly wasn’t supposed to happen.
For weeks after that, Monroe was downtrodden, but she got back in the groove by prevailing in a feud with Jaida Parker, as she beat Parker in a street fight at Vengeance Day.
After the events of the March 17 NXT, Paxley was on the hunt for Monroe and her title, and she found them at a hotel. Paxley confronted Monroe and demanded that she return the title the following week on NXT.
Paxley and Monroe had an in-ring confrontation on the go-home episode of NXT before Stand & Deliver, during which a title match challenge was laid down and accepted.
After that, Paxley and Monroe came to blows, but The Glamour was able to escape the ring with the Women’s North American Championship belt still in her possession.
That added even more animosity to Saturday’s match, as Paxley sought to dispatch Monroe once and for all, and take back her title in the process.
Paxley did indeed get the better of Monroe at Stand & Deliver, and she left the event with the belt in her hands as well, ending Monroe’s brief liaison with the championship.
