Despite missing star forward Napheesa Collier once again, the Minnesota Lynx took down Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream by the final score of 96-81 on Wednesday night.
Reese finished with 10 points, eight rebounds, five assists and one steal in 27 minutes on the floor. She shot 3-of-6 on two-point field goals, but missed both of her three-point attempts.
Collier didn’t suit up in the contest as she continues her recovery from ankle surgery, but Courtney Williams and Natasha Howard stepped up in her absence.
Williams scored a game-high 25 points while shooting 10-of-15 from the field and 3-of-5 from three-point territory. She also dished out seven assists and grabbed three rebounds.
Howard ended the contest with 22 points on 11-of-16 shooting. She racked up eight rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocks as well.
Minnesota opened the game on an 11-2 run and eventually led 20-7, but Atlanta steadily chipped away at the deficit throughout the remainder of the first half.
The Lynx ended up holding a mere 42-37 lead at halftime.
Atlanta only trailed 44-40 early in the third quarter, although Minnesota immediately went on a 13-0 run to gain separation over the Dream.
The Lynx maintained a double-digit advantage throughout the remainder of the contest, leading by as many as 19 points in the win.
