John Harbaugh has been sharply focused on his inaugural season with the New York Giants, and even though he comes with 18 seasons of experience as the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, he’s not above getting advice on how to shape this franchise.
Plenty of NFL analysts and experts have been throwing advice Harbaugh’s way for 2026, but he and general manager Joe Schoen are the ones who make the big decisions.
In his feature on June 2, Moe Moton of Bleacher Report named one player each NFL team should consider trading away before the 2026 season arrives.

In the piece, Moton noted that because of Deonte Banks’ “lapses in coverage, he doesn’t have much trade value, unless the Giants package him with draft capital. However, it only takes one team to give a recent first-rounder a chance to reinvent himself with a change of scenery.”
The Giants drafted Banks in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft as the 24th overall pick. They even moved up to get him out of Maryland. But he hasn’t really lived up to expectations. He’s been strong but not quite strong enough.
“After a decent rookie campaign, allowing a 79.6 passer rating, Banks struggled mightily in the following two seasons, permitting passer ratings of 124.2 and 126.7 and surrendering a total of 10 touchdowns,” Moton said. Banks also “hasn’t recorded an interception in two years,” but on the bright side, he “broke up 23 passes in his first two terms.”
When the Giants inked Greg Newsome II and drafted Colton Hood, they already started a transition away from Banks. It may be wise to trade him while he still has trade value, and it could be a good move for both parties.
