Longtime New Orleans Saints pass-rusher Cameron Jordan has remained a free agent since the start of the new league year in March.
While speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Saints head coach Kellen Moore confirmed that he and the team would happily welcome Jordan back with open arms.
Saints “have an offer” on the table for Cameron Jordan return
“Contract offer available. Cam’s kind of navigating this thing on the personal side,” Moore explained, per Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. “I think the world of Cam. Navigating it, and obviously, here to help in any possible way. We know what he means to this organization, this city. So, if the opportunity presents itself and he feels comfortable and ready to go, we’ll be ready to rock and roll. We have an offer [out to him] for a reason. So, we feel good about him and the production he had last year. And so, obviously, we’ll continue to navigate that the best we can.”
Jordan, who turns 37 years old in July, has only played for the Saints since they selected him in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. Most recently, he recorded 10.5 sacks over 17 games with New Orleans last season.
This past winter, Jordan made it known that he wanted “to be valued” either by the Saints or a different club. He was subsequently linked with the Kansas City Chiefs, but it’s worth noting that the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles could also be in the market for a proven player at the position.
Cameron Jordan has “earned the right” to take his time before he makes a decision
“I think the biggest thing and most important thing is to be a resource,” Moore added. “Guys who have had the type of career he’s had, I think it’s important to be a resource and [say], ‘Hey, if you have any questions about the situation here, if you have anything that we can help navigate, then we want to be that portion.’ Cam’s earned the right to navigate this thing the best he can on a personal level and a professional level. So, we’ll see where it goes.”
The Saints haven’t yet set a timeline for when they’d like to learn of Jordan’s intentions for the 2026 season. Training camps don’t get underway until the second half of July, so Moore and Co. have no real reason to give Jordan any ultimatums at this time.
