John Harbaugh is entering his first season with the New York Giants, and lucky for him, he has a budding quarterback already in Jaxson Dart. While plenty of head coaches walk into situations where they’re starting from scratch, Harbaugh at least has Dart, who put up strong numbers last season despite a losing record.
During the 2025 season, Dart appeared in 14 games and finished with 2,272 passing yards and 15 passing touchdowns, according to NFL research. He only allowed for five interceptions.
Now, Harbaugh and Dart are getting a big vote of confidence going into the 2026 season. Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report thinks Dart could actually be an MVP contender next season.
John Harbaugh, Jaxson Dart get glowing projection
So, why could Dart win MVP in 2027? Harbaugh is one reason.
“That staff—led by John Harbaugh and Matt Nagy—could pave the way for Dart to take his game to the next level,” Gagnon wrote. “His line should be better with top pick Francis Mauigoa on board; he’s now got Isaiah Likely as a safety valve, and he’s getting Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo back from injury.”
He added: “If that core can put it all together in a surprise playoff season for the G-Men, and Dart can consistently make some of the superhero plays we saw from him in 2025, anything is possible.”
It’s still a stretch that Dart could win MVP. But, in a sea of the same quarterbacks getting nominated, it would be refreshing to see his name on the tally.
