The Dallas Cowboys may have struck gold with their George Pickens gamble.

They knew he came with some baggage, but they still chose to roll the dice on him, knowing his talent was probably worth the trouble. Pickens responded by leading the team in targets, receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns. He stepped up when CeeDee Lamb was out with an injury.

Notably, that wasn’t enough for him to get a long-term deal, and he had to settle for a franchise tag instead. However, it looks like he’s loving life in Arlington, and his latest take on the team proves he doesn’t want to be anywhere else.

George Pickens is in love with Dallas

“I’d probably just say the type of coaches and the people around. When it’s a different vibe and environment, then that’s mostly what you’re seeing out of me now. Just, definitely more light-hearted people,” Pickens told the media.

Pickens began his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He had to deal with plenty of scrutiny on and off the field, to the point where they gave up on him before his rookie deal expired. Things haven’t been like that for the former second-round pick in the Lone Star State.

“They kind of just ask questions first, see your answer, you know what I mean? Instead of just going with their own narrative. Definitely being around the guys, too. That’s definitely my No. 1 thing always, just because when you can wake up in the morning and see them, and we’re going through the same thing. Just being around the whole facility,” added Pickens.

Pickens showed the Cowboys some good faith by not complaining about the franchise tag. He knew he could’ve gotten much more money and more financial security with a long-term deal, but he didn’t push for a trade.

Of course, that doesn’t mean he’ll agree to play under the tag again next season, and they must do right by him or let him go. But for now at least, it looks like he’s found his place in the world.
