Money can’t fix everything, but it can fix a lot of things. Especially when it comes to professional sports teams and keeping star players happy.
Defensive lineman Vita Vea and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were the latest team to prove that reality on Wednesday afternoon.
Buccaneers reach deal with star DL Vita Vea to keep him with team
Vea had requested a trade from Tampa Bay earlier in training camp due to unhappiness with his contract and the lack of an extension as he was set to enter the final year of his deal.
But the Buccaneers refused to trade him, despite several calls from other teams, and remained determined to get him signed.
They did exactly that on Wednesday by reportedly agreeing to a one-year extension worth $30 million that also includes $6 million in new money for the 2026 season.
