Ohio State star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith has high expectations for true freshman running back Legend Bey.
“I think I said this back in spring. I said to Luke Montgomery, I said, ‘Before Legend Bey leaves Ohio State, he will be a Heisman finalist, or he’ll end up winning it,'” Smith told reporters.
“The things he’s been doing in practice have been pretty special,” Smith added.
Bey was ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 6 athlete prospect after playing quarterback in high school.
Ohio State coach Ryan Day said earlier this month that while Bey is still learning to play at running back the team could already “see what a weapon he’ll become for us,” per Eleven Warriors’ Dan Hope.
Bey will now look to make the jump to both college football and a new position in a running back room led by sophomore Bo Jackson.
