Shortly after New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo suffered a gruesome dislocation of his right ankle in October 2025, multiple Giants players admitted that it would be “hard” for them to move on from that moment.
More recently, Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart went down with a knee injury this past Monday that will keep him out of action through at least the rest of the regular season. While speaking with reporters on Thursday, Skattebo shared a heartbreaking reaction to the Giants losing Dart.
Jaxson Dart injury “sucked” for Cam Skattebo, Giants
“Yeah, it sucked,” Skattebo said about the Dart injury, per the Giants’ website. “I talked to him on the sidelines a little bit, and he’s my best friend. So, it’s a little emotional for me. It sucked to lose him, but we got to move on. The team has still got a full season left. We’ve got 15 games minimum left, and it’s something we have to battle through and continue to work together as a team.”
Backup Jameis Winston replaced the injured Dart in what became a 28-6 Giants loss at the Los Angeles Rams on Sept. 21. While Winston failed to impress as he went 11-of-27 passing for 111 yards with an interception and zero touchdown drives against the Rams, Skattebo insisted the veteran signal-caller has the support of the locker room.
“We have Jameis’ back,” Skattebo said. “He’s going to go out there and perform and dominate the game. And I’m fully behind that, and I really do think that. And I think these guys came out here [Thursday] to work really hard, and they bought in.”

Winston will start for the 1-1 Giants when they host the 0-2 Tennessee Titans this coming Sunday. As noted by Jim Wyatt of the Titans’ website, conditions at MetLife Stadium are expected to be rainy and windy.
Nevertheless, Skattebo hopes Big Blue supporters will flock to East Rutherford for the game.
“The fans got to show up,” Skattebo said. “The crowd’s got to be lit, just like it was the first week. We have to have everybody’s support, just like we did Week 1. I think the entire city of New York still knows we have a really good shot at this. And they love Jameis Winston. So, we’re not going to take a step down. We’re going to continue to push, continue to work. If we have our fan base with us, if they’re giving everything they got towards us, I promise you they’re going to get everything from us.”
As of Friday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Giants as 2.5-point home favorites over the Titans.
