The Houston Texans signed three players to their practice squad on Wednesday, the same day DeMeco Ryans announced he was taking back defensive play-calling for his 0-4 team.

Two of the additions are defenders brought in behind injured starters, and the third is a running back Houston cut before the season began.

Linebacker Chad Muma, defensive back Jaden Davis and running back Deuce Vaughn are joining the practice squad ahead of Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans in Nashville.

Jacksonville drafted Muma in the third round in 2022 out of Wyoming, and he spent three seasons with the Jaguars and split last season between the Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots.

In 58 career games, he has seven starts, 103 tackles and 1.5 sacks, which makes him the most experienced of the three. He was a free agent when Houston called.

Azeez Al-Shaair is dealing with a groin injury and Kenneth Murray has a concussion, which leaves the linebacker room short two starters. Muma gives Ryans a veteran he can elevate on game days while both work their way back.

In the secondary, cornerback Jaylin Smith went to injured reserve with a hamstring injury. Davis, a 2024 seventh-round pick out of Miami who spent time with the Arizona Cardinals, fills that depth spot. He has three career games, all last season, with three tackles.
