Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard doubled down on his decision to continually blitz Bryce Young in a Week 4 loss to the Carolina Panthers.
“Those calls were the right calls, and I’ll leave it at that,” Sheppard told reporters Thursday.
When asked about a potential disconnect between play calling and execution, Sheppard said, “Those are private conversations that we have that I’m going to keep in house. Those calls were the right calls.”
Young went 7-for-8 when blitzed on 12 dropbacks during the Panthers’ 32-26 win over the visiting Lions last Sunday, per 100.9 The Mitt’s Ben Bosscher and Pride of Detroit’s Al Karsten.
Sheppard and the Lions are preparing for a Week 5 matchup at the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday.
