The Arizona Cardinals are giving up on wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.

Selected fourth overall in the 2024 NFL Draft after a decorated collegiate career, Harrison was ruled inactive for Sunday’s Week 5 home game against the Detroit Lions (2-2), according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, as the Cardinals (1-3) finalize a trade. In a follow-up post, Schefter specified the Houston Texans (0-4) as “one team” having discussions regarding Harrison.

Details of the deal were not immediately known, but earlier in the day, The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero wrote on social media wrote that the former Ohio State wideout wouldn’t “come cheap: League sources say Arizona would want a second-round pick and more.”

Schefter added that “Arizona had told inquiring teams that it wanted first-round value in return for Harrison” but “is now comfortable enough with whatever offer it has received to make Harrison inactive.”

Through the first four games of 2026, Harrison has continued being a non-factor in the Cardinals offense after a disappointing start to his pro career with only five receptions for 85 yards and touchdown on 13 targets. He entered the season with 1,493 receiving yards, the fewest by a wide receiver selected in the top five of the NFL Draft over his first two seasons since Corey Davis (2017-18), via Stathead.

ESPN NFL Field Yates shared the team acquiring him will have Harrison on a cheap contract over the next two seasons before a potential fifth-year option, which his next team must decide on this upcoming offseason, kicks in for the 2028 campaign.
