Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones spent the first seven years of his NFL career with the Green Bay Packers. In Week 4, he returns home and faces his former team.
Jones admits the game will make him feel emotional, but he’s looking forward to every bit of it.
“I’m definitely excited to go back, that’s where it all started for me,” Jones said via Grant Gordon of NFL.com. “Just a moment of gratitude, a full-circle moment.”
Jones was one of the Packers’ best players during his seven-year career. He found the end zone 63 times and made the “Lambeau Leap” into the stands several times.
The 29-year-old noted that that isn’t about to change because he’s wearing a different uniform this time.
“I’m definitely leaping up there,” Jones stated.
How Green Bay’s crowd would receive Jones if he does jump into it is another question, but that’s why he will keep his eyes out for any purple he can find.
“Hopefully, there’s a Vikings fan in one of them, so I can jump up to them,” Jones continued. “But I think that’ll be a pretty cool shot, side by side with the two jerseys.”
Jones envisioning himself doing the “Lambeau Leap” after finding the end zone may be premature. However, it makes sense, given that his last touchdown at Lambeau Field came back in Week 9 last season.
He has also played a key role for Minnesota this season, rushing for 228 yards (5.1 yards per carry) and a touchdown while reeling in 12 catches for 97 yards and another score.
So Jones scoring yet again in Week 4 isn’t too far-fetched. Although, the Packers won’t make it easy as they’re allowing the 10th-fewest rushing yards per game (105.7) in the league.
“If you’re not thinking about the end zone, you’re thinking about the wrong thing,” Jones finished.
