Former Pro Bowl running back Aaron Jones will look for a bounce-back season as he returns to the Minnesota Vikings on a revised contract.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the two sides agreed to a contract with a base salary of $5.5 million.
This news comes after ESPN’s Adam Schefter (via ESPN’s Kevin Seifert) reported earlier this month that Minnesota was expected to trade or cut Jones.
Jones’ previous contract was set to cost $14.55 million against the cap for 2026.
Jones has spent the last two seasons in Minnesota, where he posted a career-high 1,138 rushing yards in 2024 before he was limited by hamstring, shoulder and hip injuries last season.
He ultimately recorded 548 rushing yards in 12 games, his lowest output since his rookie 2017 season, while also adding 28 catches for 199 yards as the Vikings missed the playoffs.
Jones spent the first seven seasons of his NFL career with the Green Bay Packers after the franchise selected him in the fifth round of the 2017 draft.
The running back recorded three 1,000 rushing-yard seasons for the Packers, including a Pro Bowl campaign in 2020, before signing with the Vikings ahead of the 2024 season.
He is now heading into his 10th NFL season while trailing only Derrick Henry, Saquon Barkley and Josh Jacobs for the lead among active running backs with 7,626 career rushing yards.
