Dynamite opened with PAC, Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli and Marina Shafir giving a promo directed at Wheeler Yuta and Danielson.
Ricochet was up first for his international title bout against Ospreay. They waited a moment before locking up and struggling for control. The crowd chanted “This is awesome” as they made a clean break.
They had a fast-paced sequence that ended in a double backflip stalemate and AEW chants. Before they were even in the ring for 10 minutes, they had already delivered a lot of great action.
There is no way to do this justice with a description. Much like Ospreay’s bout against PAC, this was two of the best high-flyers in the world combining their talents to put on a fantastic performance.
It’s been several years since these two could test each other, so we saw them use all of the tricks they had picked up in that time.
Considering it’s unlikely to be their last encounter, it’s good they left room to grow, but it’s hard to think of many ways they could outdo themselves.
We saw them counter a lot of each other’s big moves and even steal a few from each other before it finally ended with both men’s shoulders being down when The Aerial Assassin pinned Ricochet.
It was ruled as a draw, much to the crowd’s chagrin. Both men indicated they wanted the match restarted, so Tony Khan told them to keep going.
They began trading strikes, and Ospreay hit a Hidden Blade, only for Konosuke Takeshita to attack him and cause the ref to call for the bell. Big Take left both men down and out before posing with Billy Goat’s title.
Notable Moments and Observations
- Shafir speaking Russian was pretty intimidating. The music in the video was great.
- Ricochet making Ospreay fall again after a kip-up was a great moment.
- The double backflip was timed almost perfectly.
- Ricochet hit a really nice hurricanrana from the barricade.
