Many ideas continue to make the rounds for Cena’s retirement tour. According to WrestleVotes (h/t Ortman), there is “interest within the WWE” for a match between Cena and Logan Paul.
Can we not? Paul was one of the most impressive rookies in modern history and exceeded all expectations. A match with Cena would have big mainstream appeal. But at the same time, Cena’s retirement tour won’t need the boost as is—and there are only so many dates in the year and better opponents with built-in stories that could occupy that tour.
While this topic has surely come up, it’s a sell on Cena vs. Paul happening at any major event. It feels like a match that would require a “big 3” PLE stage, but those spaces need to host historic farewell matches against the likes of Reigns, CM Punk, Randy Orton and other career-long rivalries, if not title matches.
