The Houston Texans are hoping to reach the AFC Championship game for the first time in franchise history with a win over the New England Patriots on Sunday, but their quarterback isn’t making things easy on them.

C.J. Stroud had a disastrous first half, throwing four interceptions to the Patriots’ defense, including two on back-to-back drives. Stroud led the Texans on one touchdown drive, but his mistakes outweighed his success early on.

The interception-spree led to a 21-10 lead for the Patriots at the half.

After the rough start for Stroud, fans ripped the third-year quarterback on social media.

The Texans have one of the best defenses in the NFL, but the defense can only do so much when Stroud can’t avoid mistakes on offense. Luckily for Houston, New England’s offense wasn’t exactly outstanding through the first two quarters, so the deficit is somewhat manageable.

If Stroud continues to throw the ball away, head coach DeMeco Ryans may have no other choice but to turn to backup quarterback Davis Mills.
