The San Francisco 49ers and Brandon Aiyuk are still at a stalemate.
The former All-Pro wideout has burned all bridges with the organization, but they have no incentive to let him go right now, knowing that they can get something in return for his services.
That’s why it wouldn’t be crazy to see the Cleveland Browns re-ignite their interest. As NFL insider John Frascella reported in March 2025, GM Andrew Berry tried to trade for Aiyuk.
He had a de facto no-trade clause because he was looking to get a new deal, and since he didn’t want to play for the Browns, that was the end of it. Now, with no chance to play in the Bay Area, he might change his mind.
The Browns make perfect sense for Brandon Aiyuk
The Browns have gone to great lengths to address their offensive line in free agency, but they still don’t have a true WR1.
Jerry Jeudy failed to step up in those duties, leaving Berry in the hunt for a prime pass catcher again.
The 49ers have made it clear they won’t just release Aiyuk and let him join another team. Whoever wants him will have to give up something to get him, and with nine draft picks, the Browns can certainly afford to make a run at him.
The Browns will most likely get at least one wide receiver with one of their first-round selections, but with such an imperious need for playmakers and Berry’s history of trading for pass catchers, they could give the Arizona State product a chance to revive his career.
