We’re inching closer to the start of the season, and the Dallas Cowboys haven’t signed Micah Parsons to a contract extension.
The superstar pass-rusher requested a trade and put the team on blast over a stalemate that has lasted longer than it should’ve.
Team owner Jerry Jones has been his usual incendiary self when asked about this situation. From saying that he would “stir the pot” to keep people talking about the Cowboys to adding that he wasn’t in a rush to get a deal done, he hasn’t necessarily helped his case recently.
That’s why he may have finally decided to take a different approach to this situation. In his latest public appearance, he gave his superstar DE his flowers, although he didn’t directly address the state of negotiations.
“Micah’s a great player, not a good player but a great player. He knows more than anyone that it’s a team thing,” Jones said on “Fox & Friends. “And so, I know everybody is tired of hearing this, but you got to put this puzzle together so that you can have some other people out there playing with Micah – that’s the art of the deal.”
Jones preached patience again, but he sounded optimistic about getting him on the field for Week 1.
“And that’s what we’re trying to get done and we’re trying to make this thing work. We have all the appreciation for what he can mean for the years ahead. We’re proud to have him,” Jones added.
