For all their faults, the Jets finished 2024 with the NFL’s third-ranked defense, and, according to at least one mock draft, New York should expect more of the same with its next first-round pick.
The Jets defense allowed 313.8 yards per game last season, the third-best number in the NFL, but according to Fox Sports’ Rob Rang, that won’t stop the team from taking Penn State’s Abdul Carter, a 6-foot-3, 259-pound defensive end, in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Like most 5-12 teams, the Jets have needs all over the board, and, as Rang points out in his latest mock draft, they “already boast a formidable pass rush with Will McDonald and Quinnen Williams leading the way.” But he believes Carter is a special talent and “could make a strong group one of the league’s elite.”
