The New York Jets are adding another name to their lengthy list of head coach interviews.

The Jets have requested permission to speak to Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley for their head-coaching job, according to Albert Breer of The MMQB. Hafley is expected to interview later this week.

Hafley just finished his first season as the Packers’ defensive coordinator. He was widely heralded for the work he did with the unit, which allowed 315.6 yards per game on the season, the sixth-best mark in the NFL. Though the Packers lost to Philadelphia in the NFC Wild Card round, Hafley’s defense did hold the Eagles to 290 total yards in the defeat.

Notably, Hafley also has head coaching experience, albeit at the college level with Boston College.

The Jets’ search appears to be wide open at this point after their apparent top choice went elsewhere. Another candidate may be emerging as their top choice, but they are still casting a wide net at this point.
