Cooper Kupp has joined a new team after spending the first eight seasons of his career with the Los Angeles Rams, but the star wide receiver has found a way to keep his jersey number.

Kupp signed a three-year, $45M deal with the Seattle Seahawks on Friday. He was formally introduced by his new team on Tuesday and proudly held up a No. 10 jersey. That is the same number Kupp wore during his tenure in L.A.

So how did he manage to keep it? Linebacker Uchenna Nwosu has worn No. 10 with the Seahawks since 2022. Kupp told reporters that he made a donation to Nwosu’s foundation in exchange for the number.

“He’s got a foundation that’s doing some really good stuff here in the community. It was important for him to have that be part of this change,” Kupp said. “He’s great to work with. I was able to donate to his foundation and make sure that he felt good about that.

“He mentioned that he’s played his best football in No. 10 and it had been important to him. Clearly, the community was an important part of this whole thing. So, I respect his desires there and we were able to work it out. I really thank him for being able to work something out for us.”
