DK Metcalf may take some targets away from George Pickens next season, but the former Pro Bowl wide receiver does not want his new teammate’s jersey number.

The Steelers made a huge splash when they acquired Metcalf in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. After the deal was announced, fans all began wondering which of Pittsburgh’s two top wideouts will be wearing No. 14 next season.

Like Metcalf, Pickens has worn No. 14 since he entered the NFL. There was speculation that Metcalf could try to work out a deal with Pickens for the jersey number. At his introductory press conference on Thursday, Metcalf said he is switching to No. 4 and did not negotiate with Pickens.

“No, sir. I mean, he’s been here. He’s made a staple in the No. 14. I’m not trying to take away from anybody’s legacy,” Metcalf told reporters. “I’m just trying to help build mine.”
