While the race for the AFC No. 1 seed is fairly decided at this point, the race for the No. 1 seed in the NFC is still very much up for grabs.

The Detroit Lions continue to cruise and picked up another critical win during Thursday’s divisional showdown against the Green Bay Packers. However, they haven’t been able to create more than one game of separation from the Philadelphia Eagles or Minnesota Vikings because they continue to roll as well.

Philadelphia has won nine in a row, although it needed a late turnover on downs to escape a challenge from the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. As for the Vikings, they have won six in a row and looked dominant for extended stretches of Sunday’s 42-21 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.

Detroit at least has a head-to-head win over the Vikings to fall back on, but the two NFC North rivals face each other in the final game of the regular season.

With just a one-game lead and two red-hot teams chasing them, the Lions may have to win out to guarantee they finish with the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

The first-round bye that would also come with the top seed would also prove useful, as some of the NFC’s top contenders will be eliminated in the Wild Card Round with so many strong teams vying for playoff positioning.

Elsewhere, the Rams are still a factor in the wild-card and NFC West races after their dramatic victory over the Bills with a Week 18 clash against the division-leading Seattle Seahawks looming.

Stafford would be a dangerous opponent for anyone he faced in the postseason, so Los Angeles’ finish will be one to watch.
