The Green Bay Packers officially have their 2025 first-round pick under contract, and that has the potential to create somewhat of an awkward dynamic in the locker room.

The Packers drafted former Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden with the 23rd overall pick in the draft last month. On Monday, Golden signed his rookie contract, which is a four-year deal worth $17.58M. Like all other contracts for first-round picks, the deal is fully guaranteed and includes a fifth-year team option.

Though he has yet to play an NFL snap, Golden is now officially the highest-paid wide receiver on Green Bay’s roster. As Bleacher Report notes, the $4.39M average annual value on Golden’s contract is significantly higher than that of Christian Watson, Jayden Reed or Mecole Hardman.
