While speaking with reporters during a Tuesday news conference, New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel suggested that quarterback Drake Maye did not suffer an injury to his right (throwing) shoulder during the club’s 10-7 win over the Denver Broncos in this past Sunday’s AFC Championship Game.

On Tuesday, Maye indicated that he’s simply dealing with fatigue that comes with completing a full season of football.

Drake Maye “feeling good” for Super Bowl LX

“I’m feeling good,” Maye said about his shoulder during his weekly appearance on Boston sports radio station WEEI, per Meghan Ottolini of Audacy. “We’re going to get some extra rest. Really, I don’t think it’s from the game. I think it’s from the build-up of throwing almost, including training camp, 30 weeks straight of throwing, and four days a week, it can add up. …Feeling good and ready to go for the Super Bowl.

Shortly after a report surfaced claiming that Maye picked up a shoulder injury when he landed on it following a run in the third quarter of the Denver game, he acknowledged
that he was dealing with “some bumps and bruises.” On Tuesday morning, Vrabel hinted that “nobody” on the roster is fully healthy at this stage of the grueling campaign.

Interestingly, Mark Daniels of MassLive shared on Tuesday that Maye “lifted the Lamar Hunt Trophy with his left arm” and “swung his left arm much more than his right” while celebrating the win on Sunday afternoon. Of course, such information means little as it pertains to what Maye will and/or won’t be able to do during practices leading up to New England’s Super Bowl LX showdown versus the Seattle Seahawks on Feb. 8.

As of Tuesday afternoon, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Patriots as 4.5-point underdogs for that contest.

Will Drake Maye be limited in upcoming practices?

“I think it’s too early to say,” Maye responded when asked if he could be limited in practices. “Right now, as I throw, I’m feeling good. Looking forward to getting out there, prepping for the Seahawks and getting ready to go.”

If nothing else, it sounds like Maye will benefit from some extra rest and from not having to worry about going up against a live defense in a meaningful game this coming weekend.
