The New York Jets, unsurprisingly, have a different characterization of their now-infamous meeting with quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers blasted the Jets for their handling of his release, but the Jets would not entirely agree with how he characterized the meeting. In an appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show” Friday, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said the Jets had essentially invited Rodgers to stop in for a meeting when they already knew he was going to be in the area.

“What I was told at the time was that Aaron had indicated to them, ‘Hey, I’m going to be on that side of the country in this week.’ And they said, ‘Great, come into the building,’” Pelissero said. “There had been ongoing dialogue up until that about a variety of different things, because Aaron Glenn and him really don’t know each other.

“Aaron clearly, from his perspective, went in there thinking we’re going to have a conversation about the future. The Jets very quickly informed him they were going in another direction. … He thought that the door was going to be open.”
