The Los Angeles Rams added a top wide receiver on Sunday when they agreed to a deal with Davante Adams, and Sean McVay says he had to make some long-distance calls to help get the job done.

Adams has reportedly agreed to join the Rams on a two-year, $46M contract that includes $26M in guaranteed money. According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Media, the deal came together while Adams was in Japan.

McVay told Garafolo that the Rams head coach recruited Adams by making phone calls to Japan. Eventually, Adams was convinced that L.A. is the right spot for him.

“He’s been recruiting Davante Adams, who is in Japan, so the time difference has made things a little bit difficult with regard to getting him,” Garafolo said. “He said he’s been recruiting him hard, been trying to get him there. He finally got it done. He’s so jacked.”
