‘Monday Night Football,’ between the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers may not have had an impact of the NFC playoff picture, but try telling that to Lions head coach Dan Campbell and quarterback Jared Goff.
Goff continued perhaps his most impressive season of his career, carving up the 49ers defense to the tune of 303 yards and three touchdowns through the air. Regardless of how ‘Monday Night Football,’ went for Detroit, they’re ability to claim the NFC’s top seed in the postseason comes down to their Week 18 clash with the Minnesota Vikings. Campbell said he did entertain the idea of resting some of his starters this week, but just couldn’t do it.
“Yeah, it was on my mind, and I thought about it a lot,” he said.
“I ended up settling on the right thing to do was to play these guys because we owed it to the team.”
