If Shedeur Sanders ended up with the Pittsburgh Steelers, something wild would have to happen in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Sanders is thought by many to be a potential top five pick, and the Steelers currently hold the No. 21 pick in the first round.
If Sanders fell to the 21st pick it would be massive tumble. With that said, the Steelers could also get aggressive and trade up as their need for a franchise quarterback can’t be understated.
That’s why it makes sense that the Steelers had Sanders in for a pre-draft visit on Thursday. The need is there, and if they can somehow get him, it would be a major steal for Pittsburgh.
And as far as how he’d feel about going to the Steel City? A lot would have to happen in order for that to happen, but Sanders absolutely loved the vibes of his visit.
He especially liked head coach Mike Tomlin, who he compared to his father, “Coach Prime”.
“The Steelers were great,” Sanders said on NFL Network’s “The Insiders” show (h/t On3). “I understand now. I understand why they win so much, why coach [Tomlin] is the way how he is. He resembles Dad a little bit. They have the same principles.”
It sounds as if Sanders and the Steelers would be a good fit. Now things just have to fall the right way, and interestingly enough, NFL insider Ian Rapoport does think there’s a pathway to that happening.
“I would put this in the category of the Steelers doing their due diligence, we think. Because there is a chance that something happens and Shedeur Sanders doesn’t go two or three, falls out of the top 10 and is waiting there for the Pittsburgh Steelers,” Rapoport said.
