After a surprise appearance in last year’s NFC Championship Game, things are looking up for the Washington Commanders. Of course, no roster is perfect. Here are three things we’d still like to know about the 2025 team.
Do they need another pass-rusher?
All NFL teams could use another pass-rusher, but the Commanders need one more than most after losing linebacker Dante Fowler Jr. in the offseason. Fowler led the team with 10.5 sacks in 2024, while no one among the team’s current edge-rushers had more than five sacks.
Washington ignored the position altogether in the 2025 NFL Draft, passing on Alabama linebacker Jihaad Campbell in the first round and the Razorbacks’ Landon Jackson in the second round. Of course, it came into the draft holding only four picks, but the team had plenty of money to spend on free agents this offseason.
After failing to land players like former Cowboy DeMarcus Lawrence and former Charger Joey Bosa, the team re-signed defensive ends Clelin Ferrell and Jalyn Holmes to one-year contracts and added former Patriot Deatrich Wise Jr. to the roster.
The Commanders will look to upgrade the position before the start of the regular season, but at this moment, former Bills linebacker Von Miller and former Falcon Matt Judon look to be the best available options.
Will Jayden Daniels be the next C.J. Stroud?
Could a sophomore slump be in store for last season’s Offensive Rookie of the Year?
Stroud won the honor two years ago after throwing 23 touchdowns and five interceptions in the regular season. Last year, he struggled, throwing 12 interceptions while taking 52 sacks.
