New England Patriots rookie left tackle Will Campbell declined to speak with reporters after his team’s 29-13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX on Sunday.
Campbell had an extremely difficult outing, as evidenced by this Next Gen Stats note relayed by Jack Andrade of NFL Network & NFL Media.
Patriots quarterback Drake Maye took six sacks, and Seahawks’ defenders amassed 11 quarterback hits overall.
Simply put, this may have just been a bad matchup for Campbell. The Guardian’s Ollie Connolly of Next Gen Stats dropped this note before the game.
The No. 4 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft played the first 12 weeks of the season but then missed four matchups with an MCL injury suffered on Nov. 23 in a 26-20 road win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
He returned for the regular season finale against the Miami Dolphins (38-10 win) and remained in the lineup for the entire playoffs.
The consensus All-American arrived to the NFL out of LSU with tremendous potential. He’s still only 17 total games into his NFL career and has plenty of room to develop and grow into a stout blindside protector.
Sunday is a tough one to take in, though, as the Pats’ tremendous comeback season after a 4-13 campaign in 2024 ended abruptly.
