When Darren Raddysh signed with the Leafs at a very hefty price, you understood why the Lightning couldn’t swing it, but you wondered how they’d replace the role he grew into. Then along came John Carlson, on a two-year deal requiring less commitment, less money, and providing more veteran reliability for the Lightning.
