The San Francisco 49ers are 6-0 for the fourth time in franchise history after a 23-17 win over the Washington Commanders on “Monday Night Football.”

A 6-0 start is a good omen for the Niners in terms of a deep playoff run (2019 lost Super Bowl, 1990 lost NFC Championship, 1984 won Super Bowl) and with the 5-0 Minnesota Vikings as the only team alongside them in the NFC — the two clubs will meet in Mexico City on Nov. 22 to solve this deadlock — the window to reach Super Bowl LXI is wide open for San Francisco.

The 49ers are no strangers to making massive trades when in this scenario. Examples include Emmanuel Sanders in 2019, Christian McCaffrey in 2022 and Chase Young in 2023, to name a few. With two Super Bowl losses, and seeing rivals like the Los Angeles Rams, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Seattle Seahawks win their own Lombardis, the pressure is as high as it has ever been for Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch to win one of their own.

The Indianapolis Colts are struggling and don’t even have their first-round pick to show for it (traded to the New York Jets in last year’s Sauce Gardner trade). Also, with Indianapolis firing GM Chris Ballard on Monday, the Colts could be looking to recoup as many picks as possible for a rebuild.

The 49ers should call the Colts to bring in these players before the Nov. 10 trade deadline.

Find a way to bring in DeForest Buckner and Quenton Nelson

The Niners go shopping for defensive line help and find a way to bolster the offensive line too. That’s like going to the store for some milk and discovering a deal on chips that’s too good to pass up and makes you wonder how it could “be profitable for Frito-Lay?”

With both veterans on expiring deals, this can be a realistic deal for the 49ers to make, especially with Buckner not loving his current life in Indiana, even prompting Kyle Juszczyk to want a reunion.
