George Pickens heard Jerry Jones’ comment from Tuesday about the wide receiver potentially being “a Cowboy for the rest of his career.”
Pickens appreciated it.
“Super excited,” Pickens said, via the team website. “I’m always super happy when someone thinks highly of me, so shoutout to Jerry.”
The Pro Bowler has put his head down and gone to work despite being disappointed about not getting a long-term deal. He will play this season on the one-year, fully guaranteed $27.3 million franchise tag.
“I left it up to agents, so I was, even when we were nine, 10 months from training camp, I was already thinking about ball. I was already training,” Pickens said. “I kind of leave that to the people that can do that. For me, I just make catches, make plays, be a playmaker.”
Pickens had a career year in his first season in Dallas, with 93 receptions for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns. With another season like last season, Pickens will get paid handsomely by someone.
He and the offense expect to be even better than they were in 2025.
“That’s the thing, the limitations and the nuance of a limitation, you shouldn’t put that on yourself,” Pickens said. “You can really do anything you want. I feel like as an offense, that’s one thing and one mindset that we have. Just trying to be through the roof.”
