AUG. 12: Head coach Kellen Moore confirmed Arnold visited the Saints, but the team did not have him conduct a workout (via Josh Alper of PFT). “Just collecting as much information as we can, having as many conversations with people who have spent a lot of time with him over the years,” Moore said. “Obviously there’s an outside of football part of this that has to be added to this, but I felt like we had a good visit with him. Good experience.”
AUG. 10: The Seahawks were named among the initial suitors for Terrion Arnold. Seattle then seemed to back out of contention for the free agent cornerback, but that is no longer the case.
Arnold visited the Seahawks on Saturday, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reports. Other teams remain interested in this case as well. The Saints will host Arnold on a visit, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network adds. Arnold has been on the open market since clearing waivers when the Lions elected to move on from him. During an appearance on Good Morning Football, Garafolo noted other suitors are also attempting to line up a visit.
Detroit’s decision was fueled by the felony charges laid against Arnold stemming from an alleged revenge kidnapping plot. The former first-rounder turned himself in to police in June, and he is confined to his home except for work-related functions such as free agent workouts. Arnold has denied any wrongdoing.
Roughly one month ago, the Alabama product cleared waivers. That came as no surprise as teams were not willing to take on the remainder of his rookie contract given the pending legal case against him. Arnold’s agent nevertheless made it clear there were interested teams, something which has since proven to be true.
The Seahawks’ cornerback depth chart is set to be led once more by Devon Witherspoon in 2026. Extension talks on what could be a market-topping deal continue in his case, while Seattle still has Josh Jobe in the fold thanks to the three-year deal he signed this spring. The Super Bowl champions lost Riq Woolen in free agency but added Julian Neal in the third round of the draft. With over $25MM in cap space, a late-summer depth addition would certainly be affordable.
The Saints have Kool-Aid McKinstry in place; he and Arnold were college teammates at one point. New Orleans’ CB depth chart lost Alontae Taylor on the open market, but Martin Emerson signed a one-year deal. New Orleans also has Quincy Riley in line for a step forward in playing time after an encouraging rookie season, although the team could also stand to add other options during training camp.
Arnold has an arraignment hearing set for August 13, Greg Auman of Fox Sports notes. It remains to be seen how he case will proceed beyond that point, but NFL interest is clearly still present.
