The Cincinnati Bengals are on their Week 6 bye. They’re coming off a 31-24 win over the Miami Dolphins, so they have a reason to smile heading into the break.
Now, the Bengals are 3-2 for the season. It’s critical that they pull off a win over the Baltimore Ravens on Oct. 25 to stay on track and keep their playoff hopes alive.
During the bye week, two Bengals players were slapped with punishments from the NFL in the form of fines.
Cincinnati Bengals tight end and safety receive NFL fines for unnecessary roughness during Miami Dolphins game
Each week, the NFL announces punishments in the form of fines, and sometimes even suspensions, for players who break the rules in games that took place the weekend before. On Saturday, the league released its tally of Week 5 fines and punishments.
Not one, but two Bengals players were on the list. The NFL fined Bengals tight end Erick All $7,073 for unnecessary roughness involving the use of the helmet at 8:02 in the first quarter of their game against the Dolphins. The league also fined Cincinnati safety Jordan Battle $21,623 for unnecessary roughness involving the use of the helmet at 13:25 in the first quarter.
All’s infraction happened while he was playing on the kickoff return blocking unit, where he committed a personal foul after headbutting Miami safety Julius Wood following the play. Battle, meanwhile, was fined for a hit during a defensive play later in the game.
