The Ravens will be without Lamar Jackson for the time being. A thumb injury suffered on his first snap back in action will require surgery and a stint on injured reserve.

Baltimore has veteran Tyler Huntley in the fold, but he was also injured during yesterday’s loss in Buffalo. Huntley is believed to be dealing with turf toe, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports. An MRI is set to take place today, but Ian Rapoport of NFL Network said on his latest Good Morning Football appearance it is unlikely Huntley will be able to suit up on Thursday. That would leave undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano in line to start against Jacksonville in Week 9.

Especially with Baltimore facing a short week (and then another three games prior to the team’s bye), bringing in a healthy passer would come as no surprise. Options are of course limited on the free agent market during the season, so the trade route could be explored. One target in particular could be worth watching on that front.

Tyson Bagent is the Ravens’ top priority with respect to a QB addition, as first reported by Sports Illustrated’s Jason La Canfora. Bagent is in his fourth campaign with the Bears, making him a familiar face for Baltimore offensive coordinator Declan Doyle. Prior to taking the OC gig with the Ravens, Doyle spent 2025 on Chicago’s coaching staff. Bagent would offer Baltimore a signal-caller acclimated (at least, compared to others) to Doyle’s scheme.

Baltimore “may explore” a Bagent trade, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk adds. Any swap on this front would carry a notable price, though. The Bears turned down Bagent trade offers this past offseason. The former UDFA signed a two-year extension last summer. As a result, he is under contract through 2027. Bagent is owed $4.25MM in total compensation this season and next.

Any acquiring team would take on a low-cost contract for a backup quarterback as a result. That helps explain the likelihood of Chicago keeping Bagent in the fold through at least next week’s trade deadline. The 26-year-old was recently reported to be content with his situation as Caleb Williams’ backup.

Chicago has Williams in the fold for the foreseeable future – particularly if a long-term extension can be worked out this spring – along with veteran Case Keenum. The latter is also under contract for next season, so a Bagent trade could still allow for continuity under center moving forward. Even so, it would be surprising to see the Bears change their stance on this front even if the Ravens make a significant offer.
