Kyle Shanahan’s team could still win with backup Brandon Allen in charge, but in case Sunday’s game results in a loss, it could use some losses by its NFC West rivals to avoid a far drop off in the NFC wild-card race.
The gap to first place in the West has the potential to be the same, even with a Niners loss, if the Cardinals stumble on the road in Seattle.
