Jarren Duran appeared to have a verbal back-and-forth with a fan during Saturday’s 4-1 win over the New York Yankees, though he downplayed the incident after the contest.

“There’s some people that were chirping and had been chirping for a few innings,” manager Chad Tracy told reporters. “Started chirping toward Jarren again. We grabbed him and got him down (into the dugout) and told them (security), ‘Can you get them out?’ That was all.”

Tracy wouldn’t elaborate on what the fan was saying beyond it being enough to request that security kick the person out.

Duran, 29, is hitting .201 with 12 homers, 38 RBI, 38 runs, 12 steals and a .622 OPS this season. Like the Red Sox in general, it’s been a disappointing campaign.
