The Jets have taken care of another extension with plenty of time to spare before training camp. Guard Joe Tippmann is the latest player to receive a long-term commitment.

Tippmann has agreed to a four-year deal, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. The extension has a value of $66.4MM and includes $34.9MM in guarantees, he adds. 2026 was set to represent the final year of Tippman’s rookie contract, but he will now be under team control through 2030.

Drafted as a center, Tippman saw time as a starter right away during his rookie season. That initially consisted of work at right guard, but he moved to the middle in Week 9 and finished the year there. In 2024, the former second-rounder logged a full campaign and played exclusively at center. The arrival of Josh Myers in free agency (along with the season-long absence of Alijah Vera-Tucker) resulted in a position change for Tippman, though.

With Myers handling his familiar center spot, Tippman shifted back to right guard for 2025. The Wisconsin product topped 1,000 offensive snaps once again, earning an overall PFF grade of 66. That represented a downturn from his evaluation as a center the year prior, but it still ranked within the top 30 in the NFL among guards. The Jets are certainly counting on a consistent level of performance given the terms of this extension.

Tippman is now attached to an average annual value of $16.6MM. The 25-year-old will move forward as New York’s highest-paid offensive linemen on a per-year basis. He and free agent arrival Dylan Parham will look to form an effective guard tandem after Vera-Tucker and John Simpson departed on the open market. Myers, meanwhile, has two years remaining on his deal. Tackles Olu Fashanu and Armand Membou are attached to their rookie pacts.

Stability up front for 2026 and beyond will be possible for the Jets as a result, provided their starters can remain healthy. Durability has yet to be an issue so far in Tippman’s case. Team and player will hope that remains true as he plays out his second NFL contract.
