The Colts have traded two key pieces so far this week.
But one of their best players still wants to be a part of whatever is next for the franchise.
Via James Boyd of TheAthletic.com, running back Jonathan Taylor confirmed to reporters on Thursday that he has not requested a trade.
But Taylor also knows and acknowledged that he’s not completely in charge of what his direct future may hold.
“I haven’t heard anything, and I can’t control that, obviously. You guys know that I’m always proud to wear the horseshoe, proud to be here,” Taylor said, via Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan. “And similar to Quenton [Nelson] and ‘Buck’ [DeForest Buckner], they were proud to wear the horseshoe, proud to be here. But obviously, circumstances may cause otherwise. So, hopefully that day may not come. But I can’t control that.
“The only thing I can control is corralling these guys in the locker room, helping us put together a great plan, and executing a great play for Jacksonville — because, like I said, it’s a division game. They’re licking their chops right now, they think they’re going to kick us while we’re down, and that has to be a point of emphasis. So, we’ve got to just take it day-by-day.”
Taylor acknowledged that the trade rumors can be a distraction if one lets them.
“Obviously, it can maybe be tough to stay focused,” Taylor said. “But that’s where you’ve got to be a true pro. You’ve got to be able to come into this building every single day and know that there are some non-controllables and there are controllables. And the best thing you can do is to control those controllables. ANd then if circumstances call for otherwise, then you take the next step, and control what you can control.”
Taylor has rushed for 587 yards and a league-leading eight touchdowns so far in 2026. He’s also caught 17 passes for 178 yards.
