Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions is one of those quarterbacks that’s flown a bit under the radar.
He has the numbers. For the 2024-25 season, Goff played in all 17 games and led the crew with a completion percentage of 72.4%, 4,629 passing yards, 37 passing touchdowns and a 111.8 passer rating, according to research from the NFL. Last season, he also started all 17 games in 2025, notching 4,564 yards, 34 touchdowns and completing 68% of his passes for a 105.5 passer rating.
But, the winning isn’t always there. Is that his fault? Not really. It’s also a key into why this may be the year that Goff finally gets a championship win under his belt.

Goff already has been to the big game. It just wasn’t with the Lions. It was with the Los Angeles Rams. Now, he has to get back there with Detroit before their window closes.
What Goff has going for him this season is the players around him. He’s always been an elite quarterback. Just look at those stats. His struggles have come from bad play calls last season and sometimes the wrong players on the field, at least for him.
So, he has his core of elite players back this season, guys like Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams and Jahmyr Gibbs. He has a new offensive coordinator in Drew Petzing, who hopefully will take over play-calling and know what he’s doing.
Plus, the other thing Goff has going for him is experience. He knows what it feels like to get to a Super Bowl. Not many players on the Lions’ squad can say that. Now, it’s his turn to use that experience to take them there.
