Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur became the subject of hot-seat rumors after the Packers suffered a stunning 35-14 home loss to the previously winless Atlanta Falcons on Sept. 24 that dropped Green Bay to 1-2 on the season.

It sounds like Packers fans aren’t the only noteworthy members of the NFL community who aren’t all that high on LaFleur this fall.

Is Matt LaFleur “in a lot of trouble” amid Packers’ woes?

“He looks overwhelmed to me,” an unnamed general manager said about LaFleur during a recent chat with NFL insider Jason La Canfora for a Casino.org piece. “I think calling plays and trying to manage the team at the same time is too much for him right now. There are too many fires for him to put out. I think he’s in a lot of trouble.”

LaFleur signed a contract extension this past winter, and history suggests the Packers won’t fire him either during or after this season unless the club is viewed as a disaster this coming December or January. That said, the Week 3 defeat was the largest home loss LaFleur has suffered in his eight years as Green Bay’s head coach. Considering how the Falcons looked over the season’s first two weeks, it’s understandable that at least pockets of Packers fans are fearing that the team could be heading in the wrong direction.

Do Packers need more from Jordan Love?

Meanwhile, ESPN stats show that Packers quarterback Jordan Love began Thursday ranked 21st in the league among qualified passers with a 49.8 adjusted QBR for the campaign. Over the season’s first three weeks, he tossed six touchdown passes and a pair of interceptions.

“He’s the type of guy who needs everything to be pretty quiet around him, and he can deliver,” the general manager told La Canfora while speaking about Love. “But that’s not how this team’s built anymore.”

On paper, the Packers’ Week 4 game at an 0-3 Tampa Bay Buccaneers side that will be without injured starting quarterback Baker Mayfield should be a get-right spot for Green Bay. As of Thursday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Packers as 3.5-point road favorites for this Sunday’s contest.
